The World Masters Orienteering Championships 2018 are organised by an association of four larger Danish Orienteering clubs with a lot of experience from organising big orienteering and other sport events

Municipality of Copenhagen

The municipality of the Danish capitol Copenhagen provides valuable support to WMOC 2018 by assisting in organising the Sprint Final in the very center of the city. Copenhagen is top 10 in the world when it comes to being the most sports friendly cities - each year hosting several very large track and field as well as other events.


Municipality of Furesø

The Municipality of Furesø has a population of approximately 38.230 people. Whether you live or work in Furesø - the municipality has a lot to offer. Furesø is situated in the midst of picturesque scenery: green forests, blue lakes, local beach, splendid architecture and good transport connections. Furesø Municipality is a strong supporter of WMOC 2018, among others by making the facilities in and around Farum Arena available to the event.

Wonderful Copenhagen is the Tourist organisation for Copenhagen. They provide support to WMOC 2018 in providing information about the city to our many foreign guests

Visit North Sealand is the Tourist organisation for North Sealand, Denmarks Royal Retreat. They provide support to WMOC 2018 in providing information about the region to our many foreign guests. Visit North Sealand has launched this film from the region.

Sport Event Danmark

Sport Event Denmark is the national Danish sports event organization established and supported by the Danish Government. The Main objective of Sport Event Danmark is to help develop and promote sport by attracting and hosting major international sports events and congresses. Sport Event Denmark is primarily focused on sports that have a strong foundation within Denmark, either at the elite or sport for all level.

Organising Clubs

Farum OK

Based in Furesø Municipality, Farum Orienteering Club (FOC) currently has 142 registered members. FOC has large experience from organising large and international events. FOC organised an orienteering World Cup event in 1994, Park World Tour in 1999 and was among the organisers of EOC 2004. Furthermore, Farum was the main organiser of Sjællandsk 3-dages 10-15 years ago. From the more recent events, FOC organised Danish night championships in 2014. FOC organises two large track and field events each year, the largest being Løberen Skovmarathon, that each year attracts in the range of 2.500 participants.

Søllerød OK

Based in Rudersdal Municipality, Søllerød Orienteering Club with 278 members is the largest of the organising clubs. SOC organised the Danish Relay and Long championships in 2013

OK ØST Birkerød

Based in Rudersdal Municipality, Orienteering Club Øst Birkerød (OCB) registers 221 members among these several Danish National team members, Thor Nørskov and Miri Thrane Ødum currently being the best known. OCB each year organises the international event Danish Spring that attracts participants from a large amount of countries. OCB has organised many Danish Championships and will in 2016 co-organise both the Danish Relay and Long championships.

Tisvilde Hegn OK

Based in Gribskov and Halsnæs municipalities, Tisvilde Hegn Orienteering Club (THOC) with 175 members has taken its name from the Long qualification terrain. THOCs member are by far those who have taken the largest amount of Danish WMOC medals with Tenna Nørgaard, Keld Johnsen and Leif E. Larsen being the best known. In 2015 half the Danish junior national team at JWOC in Norway consisted of THOC members. THOC has organised a lot of large Danish orienteering events, the most recent being the regional long and relay championships in May 2016. THOC organises a number of large track and fiels and MTB events and co-organises Løberen Skovmarathon with Farum Orienteering Club.
